I have always wanted to meet Wolfgang Puck, ever since I was a little girl, him and “Wok with Yan’s”, Steven Yan. A very hysterical and wonderful Asian chef. When I was younger, my mom would have cooking shows on all the time, when we lived in Argentia, Newfoundland in my early years….let’s not say how early (I just colored out my gray hair!). But I can look back and know, it’s part of where I developed my love of cooking and watching my mom and my grandmothers. Now I have so many more chefs I’d love to meet and just watch them in action live in person. However, Wolfgang is one of my favorites.
Over the last year, I tried to order his Rapid Pressure Oven w/ Rotisserie basket and it was always sold out. I think I tried 3 times and on the 4th try I got one…made my day when that happened right before Thanksgiving. I’ve used it a lot since then and for totally quick baked items as well as, breads, cookies, cheesecakes, and etc.. Makes the best roasted turkey in my opinion and the juices are soo wonderful.
SO I’m flipping threw the channels last week, to see Wolfgang on HSN doing his demo on his crepe maker and I’d seen it on HSN before and just said…nah, I’m going to pass….what would be the reason I would buy it?? Crepes make me nervous. I’m not good at making crepes because I’ve only had 1 really good attempt at making them on the stove after about a dozen tries…I thought I’d just pass.
Then there was a special sale on it the day, was watching the show, nearly half the price as it was before and still on Flex-pay. I watched soo diligently and the more I watched and saw how easy it was, I decided to just go for it. I called in to place my order, hoping that I would get a better chance then trying on online quick because he was selling out. In the process, they switched to the oven I have in my kitchen of his and I got so excited about seeing it, I continued to watch while on the phone, the host says, she wants to hear from people that have the oven and get some live feed back…I thought…okay, I’ll take a chance and see if I can add my 2 cents worth. Maybe I get a chance to talk with an operator to just tell them what I think about it and maybe that’s good enough.
The live operator came on and I told him how much I adore my purchase and I just purchased the crepe maker and he told me, to wait on the phone and someone else would ask me a few questions but don’t hang up. SO I stayed on the line and then a lady came on and asked me a few more questions, and she told me to just listen and just wait. Don’t hang up. The next thing I know, I was talking to the hostess and to Wolfgang Puck live on the air. I nearly came out of my chair and felt that “awwwwww” moment as I tried not to have my nerves get the best of me. Wolfgang was so nice and pleasant and he even stayed engaged with saying my name and talking to me, even though it was short and showing off that big beautiful turkey that he just pulled out of the oven and it was an amazing couple of minutes…it was probably my ultimate awww moment. It’s not every day you get to talk to one of your cooking idols and he is mine.
So while I went to the coast for Valentine’s Day with my hubby and our friends, Toni and Tim…my crepe maker came in. I was already spinning my wheels in my head on what I wanted to do. Have crepes for dinner and crepes for dessert. And that’s what I did. I’m a big fan of Instagram, so I was photographing my progress, right down to adding some gawking photos to others that only wished I was serving them a crepe or two…and was serving them up to 5 kids, hubby and myself. I made Wolfgang’s Savory Chive Crepe Batter from his book and it was delish. Then I headed over to Allrecipes.com to try a Basic Crepe Recipe to see if, I’d have the same result and I did. My kids were lining up for the savory crepes, that one maker was not enough for my large family. Now I’ll have to wait for HSN to restock the crepe maker again, to purchase another one. Talk about amazing. We did fajita style stuffed crepes and Ham, Mushroom and Bacon crepes.
Then when it was time for dessert, We made Nutella & Banana Crepes and Ricotta Crème & fresh fruit Stuffed Crepes. My kids are already making lists of other style crepes to make for our next go around. This crepe maker made me feel like a pro, even though I need to work on the technique of the wooden dowel that you use to spread your batter with. I think I got the hang of it quite nicely. I’m soo impressed, just totally impressed with how well, this went over with my family. I’m going to be making some clean out the frig crepes as well. What a fun way to make use of leftovers in a crepe form!!! I’m sold and I hope my photos will help, that if you want to purchase a electric crepe maker…Wolfgang Puck’s is just awesome! Totally worth the money.
