Easter Meatloaf, a Goff Family Tradition….
I know I’m my own twisted traditional person when it comes to Easter, with having kids you want to share some of those holiday memories you yourself have grown up with. I still take time and pick some of my favorite holiday memories from my youth and try to pass down to my children. As well as make new ones that are all mine just for them. Oh I still make deviled eggs like we always had growing up, but I put my spin and flair on them, so they just aren’t ordinary to look at, but glitz them up a bit. I still make a carrot cake, but again, I style it up and decorate it into something fun and different…never the same cake style each year. Isn’t it so much fun to play with your food. And get the kids either giggling with delight or, just giggling at being amazed?! Well in my house, my flair or styling on our holidays, is now something ultimately expected! But why not?…right?! SO before I start getting my Easter preps our meatloaf dinner for tomorrow, I find it funny how my kids ask if we are doing something for the holidays. Always around food.
Yesterday, both my oldest and youngest asked:”MOM!! are you making Meatloaf for Easter?”
Yes….don’t I always?
“Yes, but are you going to make an egg shape or bunny shaped this year?”
Which would you prefer?
“An egg….Jade’s never seen you do this?”
True but Jade has seen me do other wacky things too.
“hmm yeah, Sunday will be no different!”
So I don’t normally do the traditional Ham for Easter, I did years ago, but I changed that one year when our commissary was all out at the last minute…
So this is where our Goff Family Easter Tradition started back in 2009 with the Easter Meatloaf. And I’ve never looked back since.
So shall I do a shout out with forks in hand at the table and say…
“Easter Meatloaf, Easter Meatloaf, Easter Meatloaf!!!” Hahaha ROFL!!!
